 Conditions of Entry


1.
           
Amateurs only:  The definition of an amateur performer is a person who does not make a paid career out of performing, i.e. Your major income does not come from performing.

2.      
All Contestants must be Amateur, and can not enter if they are employed by the committee for the festival. ( eg. Backing Band, Guest Artist's, etc.) Judges are also not permitted (if they are judging this festival).

3.
     All material must be Country.  Exceptions apply for Section 7 and 19.


4.
            Judges:       The decision of the judges will be final and no discussion or correspondence will be entered into regarding their adjudication.  The judge’s opinion is just that, based on his/her knowledge and experience in the country music industry and should be taken in the spirit that it is given.


5.
            Backing:     All backing must be live.  No musical effects, music machines or drum machines.  Synthesisers can be used as a piano sound only.  Disqualification will result if you ignore this rule.  Guitar pedal effects are permitted.  Sound and stage equipment will be provided and will be the only equipment used on stage.  (Drums Supplied). Anyone requiring keyboards must supply same.


6.
            Nominations: A contestant will appear only once in any section.


7.
            Contestants: Must register with the Stage Manager ½ hour in advance of their particular section and be prepared to perform in the order they are placed or they will be declared absent. Contestants are advised NOT to approach the judges or the adjudication areas during judging as this may cause disqualification.


8.
            Backing Band:  If the Backing Band is required, competitors must supply 3 copies of chord charts.  If no backing is indicated on the nomination form then the festival Backing Band will be used if needed.


9.
            Dress Code: All contestants and backing artists must be suitably dressed.  Under no circumstances will thongs or singlets be permitted on stage. Contestants are reminded that country-style dress forms part of their performance and will be judged accordingly.


10.
            Duo Vocal: Two contestants only.  Backing band may be used.


11.
          Solo Sections: Instrumental backing only.  NO vocal harmonies.


12.
          Age Grouping:  Juvenile 1-12 years but not yet 13.  Junior 13-17 years but not yet 18.  Senior 18 year and over.  Golden Oldies are 50 years and over.


13.
          Nomination Fees: There will be no refund under any circumstances.


14.
          Official Areas: The office, judges and sound mixing areas are not congregation areas for contestants and friends.  Please keep away from these areas unless you have official business.


15.
          Adjudication Sheets: Will be available at the conclusion of the festival after presentation.


16.
          Behaviour on Stage: No discriminating language will be tolerated on stage and alcohol must not be consumed on the stage.


17.
          Finals:    First place getters only will appear in the Finals.  Those competitors who win more than one section may choose which section they will be performing in.  A different song must be sung to that performed throughout the weekend.  Each person will appear once only in the Finals.


18.
          Presentations:  The committee requests that all section winners remain in their performance outfits until after presentations and photos.


19.
          Prize Money and Trophies:  Will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters in each section.  A Senior Champion, Junior Champion and Juvenile Champion
          will be selected from the Finals.


20.
          People Choice Award:  This will be by a count of votes from audience voting forms.


21.
          Personal Items:  Are your responsibility.  The committee will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to such items.


22.
          Committee:  The committee reserves the right to alter the Rules and Conditions at their discretion without prior notice and to cancel any section should
          there be insufficient nominations in that particular section.


23.
          Judges: At no times are the judges permitted to approach OR BE APPROACHED concerning a performance during the festival.

24.      Song Writers Comp. : Only open to Contestants also attending the Song Writers Workshop ( Nominations will be excepted during the festival )


 

 

 

 

 

RULES AND CONDITIONS FOR THE VENUE

 

 

1.                  Glass bottles are not permitted.

2.                  DOMESTIC animals are not permitted inside the venue.

3.                  The organisers reserve the right to refuse admission to, or request the departure of, people behaving in an undesirable manner.

 

·         LICENSING COMMISSION LAWS APPLY AT THIS FESTIVAL

·         NO BYO ALCOHOL WILL BE PERMITTED INTO THE VENUE.

·         THE BAR WILL OPERATE AT VERY COMPETITIVE PRICES.
