Song Writing Workshop
This year we are introducing a workshop to help increase your writing and performing knowledge, no matter what
stage your ability or what age you are, you can still learn something from this workshop. With the Industry Professional

With a Song Writers Competition on Sunday for workshop participants.

Hughenden Country Music Festival is an annual three day festival that was held over the Easter Weekend, but as you can see this year we have changed the dates. This year Easter lands on Anzac weekend, so we moved to avoid clashing with the Ten Days In The Towers. We apologise if this has caused any inconvenience and hope to see you there. The festival has been running for many years with its inception in 1992. Our festival caters for the young and young at heart that like to entertain or be entertained.
The festival was first held in the Diggers Hall, and while the new Diggers Entertainment Centre was being built the festival was held at Hughenden Showgrounds.
Hughenden Country Music Festival has contestants from as far away as Mareeba and Mackay that travel every year to compete. We have also managed to attract some new and very talented contestants over the past couple of years.
We are looking forward to a great weekend of Country Music, and the chance to catch up with the many friends we have all made over the past years.
The festival will start at 1:30pm on Friday 8th April 2011 with the Song writing and Performance Workshop with the industry legend Chad Morgan. Then we get to see the man in action with entertainment food and drinks from 7pm. The competition will commence around 9am Saturday morning, Bush Poets Breakfast will give Sunday a kick start with a hot breakfast and some great bush poetry. The last of the sections will commence at 9.00am.
The finalist in each section will then entertain us for the prize money of $2000.00 for Senior Overall, and $500.00 each for Junior Overall and Juvenile Overall. People’s Choice Award will be announced along with James Family Encouragement Awards and Spirit of The Festival Award.
