Paul Wilson/Steve King Workshops
This year we are introducing workshops to help increase your writing and performing knowledge, no matter what stage your ability or what age you are, you can still learn something from these workshops with the Industry Professionals. A motivational speaker will be attending to teach confidence and self-belief skills
The Hughenden Country Music Festival is an annual three day festival that was held over the Easter Weekend, but as you can see this year we have changed the dates. The festival has been running for many years with its inception in 1992. Our festival caters for the young and young at heart that like to entertain or be entertained.
The festival was first held in the Diggers Hall. While the new Diggers Entertainment Centre was being built the festival was held at Hughenden Showgrounds.
The Hughenden Country Music Festival has contestants from as far away as Mareeba and Mackay that travel every year to compete. We have also managed to attract some new and very talented contestants over the past couple of years.
We are looking forward to a great weekend of Country Music, and the chance to catch up with the many friends we have all made over the past years.
The festival will start at 12:30pm on Friday 20th July 2012 with the Performance Workshops by the industry legends Paul Wilson and Steve King. On Friday night at 6.30pm, you will be able to see the O'Donoghue family followed by the great Chad Morgan in action. After interval, the renown Elvis impersonator will take the stage to entertain one and all. Bar and meals will be available from 6.00pm. The Talent Quest will commence around 8.30am Saturday morning. The Bush Poets Breakfast will give Sunday a kick start with a hot breakfast and some great bush poetry. The last of the sections of the Talent Quest will commence at 9.00am.
The finalists in each section will then entertain us for the prize money of $2000 for Senior Overall, and $500 each for Junior Overall and Juvenile Overall Champions. The Junior Overall Champion will also receive a guitar, proudly sponsored by Guildford Coal. The People's Choice Award will be announced along with James Family Encouragement Award and Spirit of The Festival Award.
So, if you are looking for some great entertainment over the weekend or would like to compete come and join us at Hughenden Country Music Festival 2012.
